Coming Home From Hospital? We’ll Be There.
Gentle, responsive in-home support for a comfortable recovery.
The Hidden Gap After Hospital Discharge
Discharge is just the start of recovery, and many families aren’t prepared. Public home support can take weeks to organise, leaving older people at risk of falls, poor nutrition, and hospital readmission.
In New Zealand, health insurance usually does not cover ongoing private home care, and publicly funded support can take time to assess, approve, and begin. Families are often left to manage the first few days or weeks alone — at the exact moment when safety, mobility, and confidence matter most.

Testimonials
Real Family Feedback
“A massive “Thank you” to you, and your team, for all your care and support of Pat over these last few years. It made a world of difference to Pat to be able to get out and about and engage in conversation with people whose company she enjoyed. It was also very reassuring for me, and the family, knowing your team was on the ground, especially during the unexpected hospital admissions when the carers would go above and beyond to help Pat through the admission process and ensure she had what she needed.”

Our parents were provided with exceptional care over a 6 month period, so that we were able to keep them living independently in their home at a time when they were struggling with declining health and dementia. The Assistants were extremely caring and kind and went above and beyond to make sure our parents were well looked after.”

“I am profoundly grateful for the care my brother has received, and have no doubt that their expertise has extended the time my brother has been able to remain in his own home. All these services have been undertaken with persistent patience, courtesy, and good humour. All the carers have been unfailingly kind, and respectful of my brother, often under very trying circumstances. I recommend this service without reservation, and am happy to be contacted independently at any stage.”

FAQ
Is post-hospital care available in both Christchurch and Tauranga?
Does health insurance cover Hospital to Home care?
In most cases, New Zealand health insurance policies do not cover ongoing private home care. Some policies may include limited clinical or nursing support, but everyday recovery support at home is usually not funded. We’re happy to help you check your policy, but we won’t delay care while insurance is being clarified.
What does post-op care at home include?
Can you assist with discharge planning?
Who provides the care?
Recovery isn’t always predictable. We regularly review care needs and can increase, reduce, or adjust support as your loved one’s condition changes.
What happens if needs change during recovery?
Care is provided by our experienced, police-vetted carers, matched to your loved one’s needs. All carers are First Aid trained and supported by our local care team.
Is short-term care available after surgery?
Can I book care in advance of surgery?
Is this care available while we wait for public support or funding?
Yes. Many families use our Hospital to Home service as short-term bridge care while public support or other funding options are being assessed.
How long can we use Hospital to Home care?
Support can be arranged for a few days, several weeks, or longer, depending on recovery needs. Care plans are flexible and can be adjusted at any time.
Do we need a referral from the hospital or GP?
No referral is required. Families can contact us directly to arrange support.
How do we get started?
Simply call us on 0800 227 686 or enquire online. We’ll talk through the discharge situation and help you arrange the right level of support.
